The Marietta Natural History Society will host Dr. Donald Althoff, of the University of Rio Grande, on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. in Room 150 of the Rickey Science Center on the Marietta College campus. Althoff will speak about flying squirrels based on his ongoing research. The December meeting of the Marietta Natural History Society will be held Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in the same location.

The Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department invites the residents of West Muskingum Township and Oak Grove to attend a public meeting Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. at the fire house. The department will discuss a possible special levy to support a paid EMT crew for the daytime coverage of the west side of Muskingum Township.

The Washington State Community College Board of Trustees will hold the monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Monday in the Community Room of the main building.

The Warren High School Drama Department will present the annual murder mystery dinner theater production, “Murder in Black and White,” on Nov. 22 in the high school cafeteria. Doors open at 5 p.m. with a dinner, country store, play and clue hunt. Those attending are asked to dress in their best black and white attire for a chance to win the costume contest. Tickets are $12 and may be purchased in the Warren High School office between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Washington County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Washington County Public Library, 615 Fifth St., Marietta, in the lower level meeting room. The speaker will be Professor Matt Young from Marietta College, whose program “Digital Marietta” is a long-range history project that he and his students are starting this semester. Visitors are welcome to attend.
