The annual Breakfast with Santa will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 21 at Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, 720 Clement Ave. The event will include pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee and children’s drinks. Donations are accepted.

Friends of the Lower Muskingum River will host a maple syrup workshop for beginners Jan. 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Room 102 of Marietta College’s Rickey Science Center. The cost is free for FLMR members and they can receive a tapping kit for $15. The cost is $5 for non-members and $20 with the tapping kit. The annual $2-a-bag Christmas sale will continue until Dec. 31 at the Western Washington County Food Pantry thrift store on High Street in Vincent. Hours are Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m.

The Marietta City School District Board of Education will hold its December board meeting on Dec. 6:30 p.m. Monday at 111 Academy Drive, Marietta.

Little Muskingum Grange members will hold a Christmas caroling sing from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the German Lutheran Church on Ohio 26 at Sitka. The church will be decorated for an old-fashioned Christmas. There will be propane heat, but attendees are asked to dress for cool weather. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served.
