Washington Electric Cooperative consumer-members receiving service from the Rinard Mills substation will experience a power outage on Jan. 29. The outage will begin at 8 a.m. and is expected to last until about 3 p.m. to allow crews to re-route distribution lines and energize the new Rouse substation. The outage will affect members in Graysville, Rinard Mills, Marr, Sycamore Valley and surrounding areas in Monroe County, as well as Germantown, Dalzell, Wingett Run and surrounding areas in Washington County.

Matamoras #374, Free and Accepted Masons at 301 Main St. will hold a community breakfast buffet Feb. 1 from 8 to 11 a.m. The breakfast will include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, hash browns, biscuits, pancakes, a cinnamon roll, orange juice and coffee. The public is invited to attend. Carry-out is available. The suggested donation is $5 per person. Profits from the breakfast benefit Ohio Special Olympics, Grand Lodge of Ohio Charitable Foundation, Ohio Masonic Home and local charities.

O’Neill Center’s quarterly Dinner with a Doctor will be held at 5 p.m. Monday with Dr. Kelli Cawley with the Memorial Health System. Cawley is a medical director at Marietta Hospice and a key physician at the Strecker Cancer Center. The dinner is sponsored by Cedar Grove and Comfort Keepers. Dinner with the Doctor is a free event. Marietta College’s Art Department will conduct an opening reception for “Rites and Passages: Selected Artifacts from the Marietta College African Art Collection,” Feb 7. from 5 to 7 p.m. in Gallery 310 of the Hermann Fine Arts Center. The exhibition runs through April 16 and is comprised of works of art from Western and Central Africa. Gallery 310 observes all Marietta College holidays and breaks. All exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public.

The Washington County Democratic Party will hold a Valentine’s Dinner Feb. 8 at the K of C Hall on Franklin Street in Marietta, with social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $30 per person.
