Unused PPE is being collected locally

Marietta/Belpre Health Department is asking physician offices, dentist/orthodontist offices, veterinarians, outpatient surgical centers and community members to donate unused PPE in support of first responders and critical operations. Washington County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will be coordinating these efforts on behalf of the county’s response to COVID-19. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) began receiving donations on Wednesday. Currently, the donation center will be accepting N-95 masks, surgical masks, gowns, face shields, eye protection, gloves, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies and paper products. Items can be dropped off daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 204 Davis Drive, Suite C, Marietta.

Burger King giving out free student coupons

Local Burger King franchise Charton Management and Hall Financial Advisors have teamed up to provide local students with 2,000 free student meal coupons. Wood County, Marietta, Belpre and Warren public schools that have been set up to provide free lunches during the mandatory COVID-19 closure will distribute the coupons on a first-come, first-served basis. Each of the 2,000 student recipients will be given a coupon redeemable for a meal consisting of a hamburger, cheeseburger or chicken nuggets, along with a side and a drink.

Kroger waiving its pickup service fee

Kroger has experienced an increase in demand for its pickup service as customers seek alternative ways to shop for groceries. Kroger is temporarily waiving its pickup service fee nationwide (a value of $4.95), with no minimum order threshold. Customers may experience limited inventory options and longer wait times than usual.

Kroger Mid-Atlantic stores have adjusted operating hours. Until further notice, operating hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Kroger stores and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Kroger fuel centers. Kroger Mid-Atlantic stores are dedicating the first hour of operation on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to seniors (those over 60) and other at-risk customers. From 7 to 8 a.m., these customers can have first access to the store.

Hydrant flushing by Tri-County water

Tri-County will be flushing hydrants today through April 10. If you get brown water, flush your service line until clear.

Salem VFD postpones all scheduled fish fries

The Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department has postponed its fish fries for March and April due to the county and state mandates on the COVID-19 virus.
