Readers’ Choice ballots to appear in Times next week

For more than 15 years, residents of the Mid-Ohio Valley have cast their votes to recognize the businesses they trust most.

They’ll have the chance again next week, when ballots for The Marietta Times Readers’ Choice section come out in the paper. The section allows readers each year to vote on their favorite restaurants, health care providers and other local businesses.

Ballots will appear in the paper Monday through Friday next week. Readers can fill them out and mail them back in to be counted.

The winners will be published in The Marietta Times on July 31.

“We’ve won Readers’ Choice 10 times, that’s something we get excited about, that people come out of the woodwork to encourage their friends and our loyal, generational customers to vote,” said Charla Farley, of Baker & Baker Jewelers. “It’s a huge honor when you’re nominated and it reminds us to stay on our toes and keep improving every year to earn that recognition.”

Both Farley and Chris Hall, founding partner and managing principal of Hall Financial Advisors, LLC, take pride in displaying their awards and said they prove the businesses have community trust.

“It is a real privilege to be able to be part of the community where I was born and raised,” said Hall. “Delivering world-class investment advice to the Mid-Ohio Valley creates great joy for me and my team at Hall Financial Advisors.”

Marietta Times Publisher Jim Spanner noted Thursday that the annual and trusted tradition is one which shows social return on investments each business in this community makes.

“We are honored to give our readers a chance to show us the best of the Mid-Ohio Valley and shine the spotlight on the businesses that are our partners in moving our communities forward,” Spanner said.

And whether the businesses who are honored by the community chose to display that badge of trust through a banner, a business vehicle decal or plaque, Hall said, the recognition “carries clout.”

“We look forward every year to this community-trusted event,” he said. “I am humbled and filled with gratitude to be recognized by the community that has given me so much.”

Mary Jo Miller, Times advertising manager, encouraged businesses to use this annual launch as another opportunity to reconnect with their loyal customers despite social distancing and celebrate each other through their votes.

“Business owners, readers, families vote for each other and cheer each other on and they really want those votes themselves,” said Miller. “When your whole community is heard through this and they’ve picked you, that’s something to be proud of.”
