Warren plans end-of-school-year parades
From staff reports
Warren Local Schools will hold end of school activities for Little Hocking and Warren elementaries, as well as Warren High seniors.
On Friday, a car parade will be held at 6:30 p.m. for Warren High seniors. Seniors can decorate their cars, although people must stay in their vehicles through the complete parade route. Parents and family can ride along, and any signs must be put in front of the school by 5 p.m. Friday.
The Washington County Health Department notes that families are not to gather along the parade routes, social distancing must be adhered to and people should be considerate of private property along Warrior Drive.
The parade will line up at 6:30 p.m. at the Village Cakery at Ohio 550 and Warrior Drive. The parade will make its way past the fire department and along Warrior Drive. It will enter through entrance 2 at Warren High School and proceed to the high school office. It will exit using exit 3 and proceed back to Ohio 550 using Warrior Drive. No one should enter the parade route from Ohio 339.
The parade will be a Facebook live event on Warren High School’s guidance page.
Little Hocking Elementary’s “Drive By Parade” will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday for pre-kindergarten to third grade students, and from 11:30 a.m. to noon for fourth grade students. Parents with children in multiple grades, but who have a fourth grader, should drive through during the fourth grade time.
Staff will be standing on the gym side of the building under the awning. The parade must keep moving and no one is to exit vehicles or stop the traffic flow or direction.
Parents should enter at the park and ride on Ohio 7 and Newbury Road. Turn right on Federal Road, drive through the parking lot near the gym, past the ball fields and back to Newbury Road.
Warren Elementary’s celebration will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. Staff will be present and parents are encouraged to drive through the line to turn in any school work, textbooks or library books that need to be returned. They can pick up bags with any of their child’s personal items and a yearbook if one was ordered. If parents have picked up food boxes in the last few months, they can pick one up at this time. All students and families are encouraged to come by that day, even if they have gone to other sites for food pickup in the past.
Parents can also turn in their child’s remote learning work and students can see their teachers and staff one last time in front of the elementary school.
