Washington-Morgan Community Action will be taking applications for backpacks and school supplies for children attending kindergarten to 12th grade starting Monday at the agency office, 218 Putnam St., from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Families must be at or under 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines to qualify.
Campus Martius and the Ohio River Museums are accepting volunteers. Orientations will be held July 29 at 10 a.m. to learn about Campus Martius Museum and July 29 at 2 p.m. to learn about the Ohio River Museum. No experience or subject knowledge required. Both sessions will meet at Campus Martius Museum.
Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its Shop Small/Shop Local event July 18 during regular business hours in the Belpre and Ohio 339 areas. More than 40 retail businesses, services and nonprofits are joining as partners to encourage shoppers to investigate the retail, tourism and service stops to be found in the local area.

The Belpre Homecoming Committee has canceled all festival activities and entertainment for 2020. The Buddy Bass Tournament and Kids’ Fishing Derby hosted by Frontier Bassmasters set for Aug. 1 is not affected by the decision. The committee intends to shift all planning to the August 2021 event.
Beverly American Legion Post 389 on Fifth Street will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. today. The cost is $9 and includes fries and coleslaw. There will be music to follow by Sam Clark from 7 to 10 p.m. The public is welcome.
