The Beverly Volunteer Fire Department will hold the drawing for its ATV and four-wheeler raffle at 8 p.m. Sunday via Facebook due to the Waterford Fair cancellation.

The Moss Run Community Church Summer Picnic will be held Aug. 23 starting with a covered dish dinner at 1 p.m. at Joan Adams house on Ohio 26 (follow the signs). Music by The Clarks will follow. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Washington County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kiwanis Picnic Shelter on Gilman Street for the annual picnic. All are invited to bring a meal. Social distancing will be practiced and masks used when not eating. Bring chairs if desired.

The thrift store of the food pantry on 18 High St., Vincent, will host a $2 Bag Sale Aug. 18-27. School supplies for grades 5-8 will be distributed Aug. 18 for the Warren Local school district. Supplies for K-4 will be distributed Sept. 10 for the district. Fall clothes will be available Sept. 1-10.

The Castle will present “Fighting for Freedom: The Story of the United States Colored Troops in the Civil War” Aug. 20 from 7 to 8 p.m. for the free virtual Third Thursday talk. Acclaimed teaching artist and storyteller Anthony Gibbs’ presentation is centered on the contributions of African Americans to preserve the Union. Zoom registration is required.
