Grand Jury indictments include woman on 6th OVI charge
A Lancaster woman arrested for her sixth OVI charge in 20 years was one of 20 recently indicted by the Washington County Grand Jury.
Yvonne Brandt, 36, of 140 East Hubert Ave., was pulled over by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in a traffic stop March 5 at Pike and Hart streets, Marietta, said Washington County Assistant Prosecutor David Silwani.
She was indicted this week on one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, which is a fourth-degree felony.
“She’s had five prior OVIs in 20 years,” Silwani said, noting the indictment came with a specification which will add an additional 1 to 5 years of jail time if Brandt is convicted.
None of the prior OVIs were felony charges, so she will have a maximum of 30 months in prison, with 60 days mandatory if found guilty.
She pleaded guilty to two cases of OVI in Oct. 19, 2007, in Marietta Municipal Court; one count in July 15, 2008, in MMC; one count on Aug. 8, 2019, in MMC; and one count on Aug. 31, 2019, in the Fairfield County Common Pleas Court, according to the indictment.
Silwani said most of the other 19 indictments were drug charges. See Saturday’s edition of the Marietta Times for the rest of the indictments.
