Humane Society Fur Ball on for Saturday

Tickets are still available for the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

The 17th Fur Ball will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the Elizabeth Sugden Broughton Community Building on Ohio 821 in Marietta.

Amy Rogers, Fur Ball organizer, said due to COVID, there is only seating for 250 instead of the usual 350 people.

“We tried to scale it back so everybody isn’t packed so tightly together,” she said.

She said approximately $35,000 is raised every year, with the money going to supplement the shelter’s budget.

“It’s used for overall operations of the shelter,” she said.

The band The Bash will perform outside the venue, while inside, the Ohio State University game will be shown, she said.

“Jo Momma’s Kitchen is catering a barbecue dinner,” Rogers said. “There’s a country store, silent auction and a 50/50 drawing. There will also be a cash bar.”

The event is casual dress, so people have worn everything from jeans to fancy dresses, she noted.

Tickets can be ordered online at hsov.org or at the door the night of the event. Tickets are $45 each or $400 for a table for eight.
