Washington State to host second annual Pumpkin Chuckin’ event
Washington State College of Ohio will host its second annual Pumpkin Chuckin’ event from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, on the college campus on Colegate Drive.
This fun and competitive event draws inspiration from medieval trebuchets to launch pumpkins into the air, aiming for either distance or accuracy. Rather than letting leftover jack-o’-lanterns go to waste, participants gather to see how far their pumpkins can soar. After the excitement, the pumpkins are left for deer and other wildlife on campus, with any remaining fragments naturally composting back into the earth.
A variety of local food trucks and vendors will also be in attendance. The event will be free and open to the public.
