The search for the next superintendent at Marietta High Schools is underway with changes expected to be made in the upcoming months.
Cody Parman, president of the Marietta City Schools Board of Education, said that they hired Finding Leaders to conduct a thorough candidate search that has been going on since last fall.
“They have already begun conducting interviews because they are whittling down the candidate pool to a specific amount of resumes that they highly recommend us to look at in order to do our first round of interviews,” said Parman.
There will be an Executive Discussion on March 24 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. where Finding Leaders will present these candidates to the board.
Once these candidates have been thoroughly looked through, the board has laid out an interview plan to make the process effective and straightforward for everyone involved.
“They’ll be able to debrief us on all the focus groups that they’ve done and be able to give us the reasoning behind some of the recommendations that they’re going to make to us and we can go from there to decide,” said Parman.
Since the meeting isn’t until March 24, Parman isn’t sure of how many candidates there are and what their names are. It’ll be the first time the board sees any of the resumes, according to Parman.
“Ideally the first round of interviews are going to take place the first couple weeks of April,” he said. “The second round of interviews would then happen somewhere around that third week of April.”
If everything goes to plan, the board expects to make a decision and hire a superintendent by April 25.
Parman wanted to include that, “they (Hiring Leaders) are very confident and have some highly qualified candidates to recommend to us and they’ve been really impressed by the candidate pool that they were able to put together.”
“I’m looking forward to seeing those names and seeing what we got and hopefully we can make a hirer that’s a perfect fit for Marietta.”
The next board of education meeting will occur on March 24 at 6 p.m. in the Marietta High School auditorium.
Parman said to expect a sneak peek of the Addams Family musical that will be taking place opening weekend on April 4-6.
