The Castle announces a new website launch

The Castle launched a new website at the beginning of April.

The mobile-friendly site features a more modern design, simpler site navigation and more robust photography, according to a release from the local museum.

There has also been an effort to ensure the site is easier to use and more accessible for people with disabilities, the release said. It’s been designed and tested to be in compliance with U.S. and international accessibility standards.

The new website was designed and developed by Parkersburg-based One Nine Design LLC, which specializes in website design for non-profit organizations.

“Redesigning The Castle’s website was an exciting challenge for me,” said One Nine Design owner Andrea Shirey. “My approach was all about creating a user-friendly experience that celebrates the museum’s rich history while making it accessible to everyone, from donors and members to curious locals and visitors planning a trip to Marietta. I wanted the museum’s stories and programs to shine through a digital platform that would grow alongside their evolving programs and community outreach. A good website should be a living tool that evolves with the organization it represents.”

Castle Executive Director Scott Britton said he’s excited to unveil the site.

“Although our organization is all about local history, we also want to provide a modern day customer service experience to better inform our visitors about our programs offerings, events and additional content we have to share with our members and visitors alike,” he said.

The site URL remains mariettacastle.org.

The Castle, built in 1855, offers a wide array of tours, educational opportunities and programs. Tours are available starting in April, and many history-related events are offered throughout the year, including local historical mock trials, food history, archaeology, summer camps, school and scout education, cemetery tours, teas and luncheons, wedding and facility rental and more.

Starting at $2.99/week.
