Wood County Commission considers bids for mowing, demolition
PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Commission received bids on Monday for mowing work at Veterans Park and the demolition and cleanup of a dilapidated property on Kesterson Road.
The commission got a bid from Exterior Property Maintenance of Parkersburg to mow Veterans Park near the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport 28 times for $102,000.
The commission decided to turn down the bid after County Administrator Marty Seufer said the maintenance department informed him they can hire part-time summer help to do the work for less money to help the regular maintenance crews.
The commission also received two bids for the removal and cleanup of property at 1125 Kesterson Road in Parkersburg.
The bids were from Tim Graham Excavating of Parkersburg for $8,200 and J.C. Bosley Construction of Parkersburg for $7,800.
Wood County Compliance Officer Levi Brady got a complaint about the structure, a dilapidated double-wide trailer. It was not being used as a home anymore. He contacted the owners, talked about it and realized the property would qualify for removal under some of the dilapidated property cleanup grant money the county gets from the state.
The commission referred the bids to Seufer and Brady to review and make recommendations to the commission.
