A large tree fell across the Marietta River Trail overnight Thursday. Marietta Safety Service Director Steve Wetz said nothing was damaged and city workers cleared the trail Friday. However, the tree won’t be removed until the ground is drier, he said. A sign next to the tree indicates it was the second-largest of its kind – a royal Paulownia or empress tree – in the state in 2004. Wetz said an oak tree was actually growing out of the existing tree.

Starting at $2.99/week.
