Repaving of Lee Street to begin this week in Belpre

BELPRE — Lee Street in Belpre is set to be repaved this week after years of needed repair.

McKee Paving LLC did the pavement grinding on Lee Street on Tuesday, and they plan to start paving the street today, said Mayor Susan Abdella.

However, the project is weather-dependent and with rain forecasted this week, there is no set date that construction will stop.

While the pavers are actively working on Lee Street, traffic will be asked to reroute accordingly.

Abdella said the money used for the repavement of Lee Street was appropriated from the general city fund after they were unable to receive grant funding for the project.

“There’s been discussion, and we tried to get state funding to help with it last year, but that did not occur. So now the city is going to do that on its own,” she said.

Abdella estimates that the repavement will cost the city around $100,000.

Starting at $2.99/week.
