Peoples Bancorp Foundation gives to Marietta YMCA

Peoples Bancorp Foundation, a non-profit corporation formed to make donations in Peoples Banks market areas, recently pledged $3,000 in support to the Marietta Family YMCA’s “Strong Kids” Campaign.

“Peoples Bank believes that everyone should be able to participate in the YMCA’s programs regardless of their financial means. We’re proud to support an organization that impacts so many in the community,” said Tom Betz, Peoples Bank VP Small Business Banker.

The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign allows more kids to participate in life-enhancing programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body. The pledge will pay tuition costs for children unable to pay for services.

One out of every three Americans reports being a YMCA member at some point in life, but YMCA has really touched nearly every American’s life. The games of basketball and volleyball were both invented at YMCAs. YMCAs have also pioneered camping, public libraries, night schools, and teaching English as a second language.

Peoples Bancorp Foundation contributions focus on charitable giving in four major areas: community investment and economic development, youth and education, human services programs that improve the social needs of low- to moderate-income communities and individuals, and the arts and cultures.

Organizations receiving grants meet those requirements and serve the markets where Peoples Bank currently has office locations.
