Career Center scholarships available for area residents

The Career Center’s Adult Technical Training Center is pleased to announce two scholarships available for area residents. The Regional Job Training Scholarship is available to any qualifying Ohio resident. Awarded students may receive up to 50% of their total program cost, not to exceed $4,000. The scholarship was made possible from the distribution of Ohio Casino licensing fees to Buckeye Hills Regional Council, who then awarded The Career Center with $100,000. Applicants must meet scholarship guidelines.

The High School Scholarship is available to all 2019 high school graduates in Ohio and West Virginia who achieve a minimum 2.5 GPA and have 90% or better attendance during their junior and senior years. It covers 30% of tuition cost in their program of choice at The Career Center, up to a $1,000 maximum. (Graduates of the WCCC High School are eligible for a $2,000 maximum).

Programs at The Career Center range from two weeks to one year and all are currently “in-demand” occupations both in Ohio and in the Mid-Ohio Valley. The Career Center works closely with area employers to ensure the programs offered have a curriculum that meets the demands of local industry. Program instructors are all working or have worked in their field of expertise and training is conducted in a hands-on environment that is similar to the workplace. The student graduates with certification, basic skills and knowledge to begin entry-level work in a wide variety of careers, including Truck Driver Training (CDL), Chemical Technician/Operator, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Instrumentation & Electricity Technician, Building Technology, Welding, Heating Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Information Technology Professional, Certified Medical Assistant, Medical Billing Specialist, Surgical Technologist, Phlebotomy and State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA).

Scholarship guidelines can be found by visiting mycareerschool.com or calling 800-648-3695.

The Career Center’s Adult Technical Training Center is located on State Route 676 in Marietta.
