Community Crew

June 2019 – Churchtown Community Crew 4-H held their meeting on June 14 at the St. John’s Pavilion at 6:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by President Maddie Wells. The pledge of allegiance was led by Dylan Hart and the 4-H pledge was led by Owen Schaad. Roll call was to “your favorite song.” The minutes were read and approved. A treasurer’s report was given by Emma Poulton. A health report titled “Summer Health Tips” was given by Jaslynn Casto. A safety report titled “Pool Safety Tips” was given by Jaelyn Tornes. A devotion titled “How God Speaks to Us” was given by Haley Tornes. A song titled “Old McDonald” was led by Mylee Lang, Jaslynn Casto and Layne Schaad. For recreation, the club played a few ice breaker games.

≤ Old business – Junior fair royalty applications were also due on May 31. The forms for horse projects were due to the extension office at 4:30 p.m. on May 31. Required tag in for lamb, goats and dairy feeders were on June 1. Also on June 1, at 8 a.m. the 5k run and walk was at Oak Grove Christian School for Camp Hervida.

≤ New business – The 4-H project judging resources are available online on the webpage. The Ohio State fair entry deadlines are June 20 for rabbit, poultry, livestock, dog show and dog agility. The public speaking contests are on July 16. The feeder calf and dairy goat tag-in is on July 20. Haley moved to donate 50 pounds of sugar to the Sternwheel Festival; Emma Poulton seconded.

≤ The meeting was adjourned by Ethan Poulton and seconded by Jace Dyar. Refreshments were brought by Katie Schaad’s family and Layne Schaad’s family. They were brought next by Dyar and Hart. Demos were given by Mylee Lang, Ethan Poulton, Emma Poulton, Averi Schwendeman, Owen Schaad, Karli Schaad, Cameron Miller and Garret Miller. Given next by Layne Schaad, Kara Schaad, Emma Tornes, Jackie Tornes, Maddie Wells, and Katie, Mckenzie, and Haiden Schaad. The next meeting will be held July 5 at the St. John’s Pavilion at 6:30 p.m.
