Annual Casto family reunion

The annual Casto Reunion for the descendants of John and Renna Molze Casto was held at Elks Lodge #477 on July 6. In attendance were 98 people. Those traveling from out-of-state were from Kentucky, New York, and Texas.

A potluck dinner was served. Chris Casto gave the invocation.

The business meeting was called to order by President Laurie Neader. Officers elected for 2020 reunion were Laurie Neader, president, Brad Bauer, vice president, Angie Scott, treasurer, Karen Bloomingdale, secretary, Pam Bailey and Kathleen Schneider, historians; Tammy Casto and Lisa Lemley, care committee. Chris and Tammy Casto, Steve and Jill Casto, Doug and Amy Casto, Wes Casto and Jessica Mossack volunteered for the set-up committee for next year’s reunion. Tammy Casto will provide table service.

Tim Casto gave the treasurer’s report.

Pamela Bailey, historian, reported during the year there were two births: Carter Allen Richard Cottrill to Diamond and Brady Cottrell, and Bexley Amelia Goodman to Brooke Neader and Carl Goodman.

Marriages: Kevin Bailey to Rina Perlin, and Renna Taylor to Ben Clark.

High school and college graduates: Meadow Sheppard McCarthy, Marietta High School, Rylee Holland, Warren High School, and Washington County Career Center, Oscar Riviera, Louis D. Bradeis High School, Alexander Schneider, Frontier High School and Washington County Career Center, Laura York, Trimble Local High School, Jessica Mossack, bachelors from Ohio University, Larynn Cutshaw, masters from University of Rhode Island, and Kelsey Taylor, doctorate from Harding University.

Deaths reported: Kathy Ann (Kiggans) Anderson, Jan. 15; Anita Kay (Casto) Ours, Feb. 10; Julie Diane (Britton) VanWey, April 26; Dr. David Casto, June 24; Russell Raymond Casto, June 26.

Currently serving in the military is Brian Scott Myers, Chief Petty Officer, NAS, Oceana Dam Neck Annex, currently deployed.

Chris Casto served as auctioneer for the white elephant sale assisted by Steve Casto. Ronald Casto was the eldest attending and Bexley Amelia Goodman was the youngest attending. Steve and Jill Casto were recognized for traveling the furthest from Cumby, TX.

The annual golf outing was held at Lakeside. Competing were Tom Bloomingdale, Ronald Casto, Brad Bauer, Mark Bauer, Josh Bauer, Brandon Bauer, Mick Casto, Layla Cole, John Cole, Larry Britton, Kenny Britton, Chris Casto, Steve Casto, Bruce Casto and Jeff Green. Winning score was two under par registered by the team of Steve and Chris Casto.

The next reunion will be on July 11, 2020.
