Lowell Lively Lassies & Lads 4-H Club
June 21 – Lowell Lively Lassies & Lads 4-H Club met on June 23. The meeting was called to order by Vice President Owen Brown. Pledges were led by Church Barton and Kasey Lang. Roll call was answered by “your favorite color.” The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Project judging for all projects will be at the Washington County Career Center on July 16. The advisors reviewed what to bring to judging and the time scheduled for each project. Skillathons for all animal projects will be at the Washington County Fairgrounds on Aug. 3 from 8 a.m. to noon. The make-up day for all projects and Skillations will be Aug. 6 by appointment only at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Study guides for Skillathons are in the June-July 4-H Family Newsletter.
Camp dates: July 1, Cloverbud Camp; July 1-2, Beginner Camp; July 8-12, Junior Camp; and July 22-26, Senior Camp. Other upcoming events include: July 20, Feeder Calf and Market Dairy Goat Tag-In at the Barlow Fairgrounds; Aug. 3, Washington County Fair Pen Reservations due to the Fair Board; Aug. 30 – Barlow Fair Pen Reservations due to the Fair Board.
Members discussed ideas for the fair booth. Advisor Charlotte Wagner discussed the importance of vaccinations for the Health Report. Owen Brown gave a demonstration on “How to Put a Lead Rope on a Steer” and “How to Hold a Lead Rope in Your Hand.” The Cloverbuds made ice cream and reported to the rest of the club how they did it. The next meeting will be July 14. Recreation was led by Aurora and Church Barton, and refreshments were served by Betty, Karisa and Kasey Lang.

Alyssa Lang reported on attending Junior Camp. July 16 will be project judging at the Washington County Career Center. Study guides for Skillathons are in the June-July 4-H Family Newsletter. Skillathons for all animal projects will be Aug. 3 at the Washington County Fairgrounds. The make-up day for both project judging and Skillathons will be Aug. 6 (by appointment only) at the Washington County Fairgrounds. On the make-up day there will be a $20 late fee for Skillathons for the animal projects.
Upcoming events: Aug. 1, Washington County Fair Booth Reservations Due (theme: 4-H Stepping Stones to Success); Aug. 3, pen reservations due for the Washington County Fair to the Fair Board; Aug. 11, 3 p.m. pen setup for the Waterford Fair (letters A-L); Aug. 14-15, Waterford Fair (Hog weigh-in Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 7-9 a.m.); Aug. 28, set up fair booths for the Washington County Fair.
Kasey Lang gave a demonstration on “Arranging Scrapbook Pages.” Dominic Brooker, Owen Brown and Kasey Lang reported on getting their animals ready for the fair. The next meeting will be Aug. 11. Refreshments were served by Dominic Brooker.
