Lowell Lively Lassies & Lads 4-H Club
Lowell Lively Lassies & Lads 4-H Club met on Aug. 11. The meeting was called to order by Logan Wagner. Pledges were led by Cloverbuds Levi Wagner and Lucas Wagner. Roll call was answered by “your favorite ice cream topping.” The minutes of the last meeting were read by Secretary Taylor Haines and approved.
A motion was made and approved to donate $25 to the Camp Hervida Lemonshake Stand at the Sternwheel Festival. Alyssa Lang, Levi Wagner and Lucas Wagner reported on the 4-H Camps that they attended. Kasey Lang reported on attending the Ohio State Fair with her Scrapbooking Project. Members were reminded to bring their projects and posters for the fair booth to advisor Charlotte Wagner by Aug. 25. The fair booth will be set up on Aug. 28.
Hog weigh-in for the Waterford Fair will be Aug. 14 from 6-8 p.m. and Aug. 15 from 7-9 a.m. Barlow Fair pen reservations are due Aug. 23. All the upcoming fair activities were reviewed. All members with livestock projects are asked to make “thank you” posters for their buyers.
Alyssa Lang gave a demonstration on her Magic of Electricity project. County award applications are now available, and members were reminded to apply for these awards. The Cloverbuds made slime and reported to the members the recipe and how they had to follow directions to make it. Taylor Haines made a motion to adjourn. Kasey Lang seconded the motion and the motion carried. Refreshments were served by advisor Charlotte Wagner.
Trail Blazers 4-H Club
The Trail Blazers 4-H club had a meeting on Aug. 22 at the Barlow Fairgrounds at 6:30 p.m. The trash can committee and booth committee met at six to work on their projects. Thank you for all your help. American Pledge was led by Emily Hoffman and the 4-H Pledge was led by Tessa Haffner. There were 17 members and nine guests present.
New business – Booth Committee needs to meet Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. to help decorate the booth. Trash cans need to be turned in Aug. 29 by 9 p.m.
The arena at the Washington County Fairgrounds is now unlocked. You can practice any time now.
Fair is Aug. 31 through Sept. 3. Horses must be stalled from 3-7:30 p.m. on Friday and remain stalled until Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Rabbits, poultry, lamb and goat weigh-in for the fair is from 4-7 p.m. and market steer, 7-7:30 p.m. Livestock pictures are from 6-8 p.m. Livestock exhibitors with last names “M-Z” must attend the fair teardown on Sept. 8 at 3 p.m.
Camp Hervida lemon shake stand is Sept. 8 from 2-4 p.m. Please show up to work your shift.
