Friends of the Library prepare for Fall Book Sale
At the end of this month, the Friends of the Washington County Public Library are hosting their Annual Fall Used-Book Sales, offering affordable, gently-used books, media and other materials to the public.
The sale will take place from Sept, 27 through Oct. 1 in the Washington County Public Library Annex, adjacent to the library’s Fifth Street location. All proceeds from the sale benefit the Friends of the Library. Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. the sale will be open to members of the Friends of the Library only. Public hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m on Sept. 28 and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sept. 30. On Oct. 1 the sale is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., where the cost is $2 per bag, and shoppers can fill their bag with as much as they can fit inside.
The Friends of the Library in Marietta are collecting donations of gently-used books with dust covers, DVDs, and CDs in the Annex Breezeway. Damaged books, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and textbooks will not be accepted.
The Friends of the Library (FOL) is a public non-profit organization that welcomes everyone who is interested in supporting their local library. The Friends’ mission is to focus public attention to library services, facilities and needs; to assist the library board and staff in developing and sponsoring programs of educational, cultural, or recreational value for Friends and the community at large; and to develop fundraising projects for the library. Although independent of the library system, the Friends communicate with library staff to pinpoint needs.
