Garden club visits planetarium

The Muskingum Garden Club enjoyed the tour of Anderson Hancock Planetarium on Oct. 8.

Franci Bolden presented a star talk featuring objects visible in our evening sky. Then Garden Club watched a fulldome video, “Dawn of the Space Age.” The topic was the history of space flight, which is timely given the recent 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission.

The presentation was enormously enjoyed by those present. All were in awe of the vastness of the universe and importance of coexisting in the Milky Way galaxy.

Afterwards, the hostess Nadine Kasick invited the group to a luncheon at Marietta Wine Cellars. LaTrelle Ellis offered the prayer before the luncheon. During the luncheon, she held the meeting.

“Happy Birthday” was sung to Barbara Garverick.

Thoughts of inspiration were given by Pam Williams and LaTrelle Ellis, to behold the beauty of the earth around us.

Roll call was answered with each member stating that if they could, where they would like to go this fall. Many offered “out-of-the-box” imaginary parts of the world.

Secretary’s report was caught up to date by Nadine Kasick. She listed the new officer as follows: president, LaTrelle Ellis; vice president, Deborah Naeser; secretary, Val Hoover (pro-temp); treasurer, Nadine Kasick; retiring president, Judy VanDyk. Minutes were accepted by voice acclamation.
