Southeast Ohio Doan Reunion

The Southeastern Ohio Chapter of the Doan Family met on Oct. 5 for their 38th annual reunion at the Lower Salem Community Building.

Dinner was enjoyed at noon with Christopher Doan giving grace before the meal. The tables were decorated with potted mums donated by Delmer Doan and Barbara Doan Palmer. They were later presented as door prizes.

Following the meal, the children adjourned to the playground where they enjoyed supervised games and prizes. Barb Doan Palmer conducted the business meeting. She gave an update on the Doan Family Board Meeting held Nov. 17, 2018. Ideas discussed were the name of our new scholarship fund which will be known as William and Anna Doan Education Award; we will pay dues for our chapter to belong to the National Doane Family Association; and our 2020 reunion will be moved to the second Saturday in October.

Prizes were awarded to the oldest male, Delmer Doan; oldest female, Lila Doan Hill; youngest child, Barrett Christopher Doan, nine months old, son of Christopher and Crystal Doan; traveling the farthest, Kayli Monaghan from Hanover, N.C.

The winner of the 50/50 drawing was Steve Hill, who donated the prize back to the treasury.

A memorial service was conducted for our diseased relatives. Kim Doan lit candles in memory of Jean Pickering Doan, wife of John Doan; Alan Amos, son of Virgil and Vera Doan Amos.
