Trooper with Marietta post is promoted to rank of sergeant

Trooper Dustin Payne, of the Marietta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, was promoted to the rank of sergeant on Tuesday by Col. Richard S. Fambro, Patrol superintendent.

Sgt. Payne will remain in his current assignment as an assistant post commander.

Payne began his patrol career in May 2009 as a member of the 149th Academy Class. He earned his commission in December of that year and was assigned to the Dayton Post. He earned the Ace Award for excellence in auto larceny enforcement four times and the Criminal Patrol Award four times. He was selected as Post Trooper of the Year three times and District Trooper of the Year twice.
