Washington County Courthouse reopens with stipulations

Effective May 4, 2020 the following Washington County Courthouse Offices located at 205 Putnam Street will be open to the public with the following stipulations:

Washington County Common Pleas Courts

¯ General Division – Open to the general public 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Jury trials are continued pending further guidance from the Supreme Court. Grand jury will recommence starting May 19.

¯ Clerk of Courts – General Division – Office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. We will practice social distancing and be limiting the number of persons allowed in the office. Filings are being accepted by mail.

¯ Probate-Juvenile Divisions, including the Clerks’ offices – Office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. No appointment necessary. All hearings will proceed as scheduled.

Recorder – Office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. We will practice social distancing and be limiting the number of persons allowed in the office. If you would like to make an appointment, please do so by calling 740-373-6623 ext. 2223. We are requiring masks be worn at all times.

Treasurer – Office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. We will practice social distancing and be limiting the number of persons allowed in the office. Payments for monthly contracts can be made online at washingtongov.org/328/Treasurer, by mail or over the phone. Dropbox is availabel with security at main entrance of courthouse. You must make office staff aware you have dropped something in the box.

Auditor and Tax Map – Office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. We will practice social distancing and be limiting the number of persons allowed in the office. Dropbox is availabel with security at main entrance of courthouse. You must make office staff aware you have dropped something in the box.

Sheriff – Civil Division – Courthouse Annex – Information window open to the general public 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Concealed Carry (CCW) Applications and Concealed Carry Permits Issued and BCI & FBI Background Checks conducted from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. by appointment only; call 740-373-6623 ext. 4010 to make an appointment.

Prosecutor – Office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. We will practice social distancing and be limiting the number of persons allowed in the office. Victim Advocate for the WCPO will also be available by telephone and for appointments during the hours of 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Please call 740-373-0043.

Child Support – Open to the general public 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. We encourage you to contact us at 740-373-9324 as many issues can be resolved by phone. Child support payments can also be made by phone at 740-373-9324 during regular business hours or online at oh.smartchildsupport.com 24 hours a day with no fee.

The following Washington County Courthouse Offices located at 205 Putnam Street will continue restricted hours of operation until further notice:

Adult Parole Authority – Closed to the general public. If you need to speak to an officer please call 740-374-3701 and leave a message, someone will contact you by the next business day.

Law Library – Closed to the general public. You can call 740-373-6623 ext. 2241 and leave a message or send an email to washcolaw@sbcglobal.net. Someone will contact you as soon as possible.

Building Department – Closed to the general public. The administrative staff will be working remotely during normal business hours to meet the needs of our customers. Phone calls will be sent to the voicemail between the hours of 8-9 a.m., and 3-4:30 p.m. During those times please leave a detailed message and our administrative staff will call you back in a timely manner.

Plan reviews and inspections will continue as normal. There will be no face-to-face reviews or meetings until the Stay at Home Order is lifted. Payments can be made online or by calling 740-374-4185.
