Hervida 4-H camp will be offered virtually
It is that time of year when many youth would be spending the hot and hazy days of summer enjoying the traditions of summer camps. Camp traditions might include gathering around the flagpole saying the pledges, making crafts in the craft hall, playing water games in the field, swimming in the pool, singing songs in the dining hall, enjoying cabin time with friends, hiking trails, or watching skits around the campfire. However this summer, campers are staying safe and healthy and staying home. The 4-H pledge says, “I pledge my health to better living” and everyone is currently trying to uphold that pledge every day.
This year youth have the opportunity to try something new. Although everyone wishes to be out at Camp Hervida, OSU Extension is very happy to be able to provide a virtual camping experience. Martha Webster, 4-H Summer Camp Director has received songs, dances, and memories from various previous and current camp counselors to add to the fun. “This camp opportunity is open to all youth – not just 4-H members. The site is currently available at go.osu.edu/washvirtualcamp. Click on t-shirt order link to print out the form to order the special 2020 Hervida shirt and get access to the other amazing camp activities,” said Webster.
Payment for the t-shirt and site access must be to the OSU Extension office no later than July 17 in order to receive a t-shirt. Contact the Extension Office at 740-376-7431 with questions.
