Evan Cunningham has released his first album, “Burnin’ Gas,” available on CD and online streaming services. The album includes two original songs, the title track and “Crazy For You,” as well as four cover songs. When recording “Wagon Wheel,” Cunningham sang as well as played both acoustic guitar and mandolin.

Cunningham, a 17-year-old country musician from Newport, will be a senior at Frontier High School taking classes at Washington State Community College when classes resume this fall.

He has performed with High Schools That Rock since 2014 and started performing solo in 2019.

After graduating in May 2021, he plans to study music therapy at Marietta College.

While some events have been cancelled or postponed due to the Coronavirus, Cunningham was able to perform via Facebook Live at the Historic Monroe Theatre (Woodsfield, Ohio) in May and “Mindfulness at the Marina” (St. Marys, W.Va.) in June. He was scheduled for the House of Wines (Marietta, Ohio) July 2, and the Dils Center Local Country Artist Showcase (Parkersburg, W.Va.) on July 18.
