Bull’s-Eye 4-H Club

Bull’s-Eye 4-H Club held the first meeting of its fall session Oct. 3. Josie Burke, past president, led the business meeting. Kenzie Smith led the American pledge and Izaya Chisolm led the 4-H pledge.

Members shared their 4-H experiences during the summer such as 4-H camping, community service of helping at the Friends of NRA Banquet and Hervida Lemonade Shake Stand, and serving on boards at the county and state fairs.

Members who participated in the spring session were encouraged to complete a 4-H Award Application that is due Oct. 11.

The club voted to donate $15 to the National 4-H Paper Clover Campaign at the Marietta Tractor Supply Store. New club officers will be elected at the next meeting on Oct. 10. An orientation to the 4-H shooting sports program was presented to the families including facts about the program, introduction of instructors, and safety guidelines. The meeting concluded with members participating in archery, air pistol, and rifle disciplines.

Community Crew

4-H Club

The Churchtown Community Crew 4-H club held their meeting on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021 at 11:45 a.m. in the St. John’s Church basement.

The meeting was called to order by President Jaslynn Casto. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jaelynn Tornes and the 4-H Pledge was led by Owen Schaad. Roll call was to “your favorite animal.” The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Secretary Emma Poulton and approved. A treasurer’s report was given by Treasurer Jaelyn Tornes. Vice President Owen Schaad gave a devotion titled “The Heart of the Matter.” Karli Schaad gave a health report on “How to Adjust to the New School Year.” A safety report was given by Elle Casto on “How to Have a Safe Time at the Fair.” Elle Casto led the club in singing the song “BINGO.”

Under old business the club will be painting a trash can for the Washington County Fair. Emma Poulton was recognized for her still project judging results and her participation at the state fair. We also discussed the skillathon and pen reservations.

Under new business hog weigh in times were given. We also discussed that no hog pictures will be taken at the fair. Members were also reminded of the county fair pen set up and tear down. The Hervida drawing will be Nov. 15 if anyone is available to help. Make-up skillathon will be tomorrow, Aug. 9. The club discussed purchasing fair passes for all members. Owen Schaad moved to have the club purchase fair passes for each member and Jaslynn Casto seconded the motion. The club members voted in favor of this. The club also discussed donating 25 pounds of sugar to the lemon shake booth at the Sternwheel Festival. Elle Casto made a motion to make the donation and Jaslynn Casto seconded the motion. The club members voted in favor of this. Karli Schaad made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Elle Casto seconded the motion. Demonstrations were given by Owen and Karli Schaad. The next meeting will be the club Christmas meeting in December. Members will be contacted with details closer to the time of the meeting.
