¯ A deputy began an investigation Nov. 11 into a scam.

¯ Deputies were dispatched Nov. 11 to 4170 Sugar Run Road, Marietta, to a 911 hang-up, with no answer on callback. Dispatch was able to hear a female state “no, no stop it!” A deputy met with Clarence Francis, while a deputy patrolled for Courtney Clayton. Clayton was located, stating she and Francis were in a verbal argument. After conducting the investigation both Clarence Michael Francis, 31, and Courtney Nichole Clayton, 28, were placed under arrest for domestic violence.

¯ A deputy met Nov. 11 with Abra Brown, of 70 Hanover Road, Cutler, about a burglary complaint.

¯ A deputy met Nov. 12 with James Lucas, of Ohio 555, Cutler, about a burglary.

¯ A deputy met with Gary Ellis, of 225 S. Seventh St., Marietta, on Nov. 13 about a stolen Jeep. The Jeep was located by Ohio State Highway Patrol and it was wrecked.

¯ Deputies began an investigation Saturday at the Marietta Silos and Ashland Campground, Marietta, about breaking and entering complaints.

¯ It was reported Sunday that a man stopped at a residence on Ohio 7, Marietta, and stole a red gas can. The suspect vehicle was located at Bridgeport and contact was made with Anthony Charles Smith, who admitted to stealing the can as he was low on gas. A summons is being requested for Smith, 35, of 1219 14th St., Parkersburg, on a theft charge. The can was recovered.

¯ A deputy met with Marli Williams on Sunday about a storage building on Clifton Road being broken into.

¯ A deputy began an investigation Monday into a financial scam utilizing Amazon.

¯ Officers were dispatched Monday to 243 Wingrove Drive, Little Hocking, due to a 911 hang up. Dispatchers advised a female was heard stating “don’t touch me” before the line disconnected. Robert Wingrove advised deputies that Tara Renee Jenkins was at the home alone. Jenkins was located and a smoking pipe was observed in a tan, cloth purse, which she admitted was hers. She advised there should be another smoking pipe in this same purse along with a skull containing methamphetamine. A search of the purse revealed three glass smoking pipes and a white rubber container with methamphetamine. Jenkins, 42, was arrested and charged with drug possession and possession of drug instruments. A summons is being requested for Robert Scott Wingrove, 56, for obstructing official business.

¯ A sergeant was dispatched Monday to 230 Oxbow Lane, New Matamoras, to complete a welfare check on 65-year-old Oscar A. Zehendner. Multiple attempts to make contact with Zehendner by phone were unsuccessful. Contact was made at the residence where he confirmed making comments on the phone while “racking a gun.” After completing the investigation, a charge of disorderly conduct was filed on Zehendner.

¯ A deputy was dispatched Monday to 489 Sandhill Road, Marietta, to a report of Larry Boice and Derek Boice being in a physical altercation. Larry stated he was in a verbal argument with Derek and Derek knocked his glasses off of his face so he pushed him backward to get him to go downstairs. Derek then punched Larry in the face. After completing the investigation, Derek Eugene Boice, 33, was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence.

¯ Units located a woman walking in the parking lot of the Duke and Duchess Gas Station on Nov. 10 carrying a steak knife in each hand. The woman, identified as Maranda Markwood, was arrested for disorderly conduct, cease and desist and littering, because 30 minutes earlier, she had beat on a door at her apartment on Greene Street and littered the ground and street with tampons.

¯ A patrolman was dispatched Nov. 10 to 804 Pike St. in regards to a shoplifting of $136 of merchandise. Heather Lee Wagner was arrested for theft.

¯ An officer was advised Nov. 11 of a suspicious person hiding in an outhouse at the VFW on Pike Street. He was arrested on an active probation warrant and was transferred to the Washington County Jail without incident.

¯ A patrolman was dispatched Nov. 12 to the River Trail 5 area behind Quality Inn, 700 Pike St., about a theft of batteries off heavy equipment.

¯ An officer investigated a theft at Walmart. Thomas Dean Joy was arrested for switching price tags to attempt to underpay $61 and was transported to jail.
