¯ A patrolman responded Dec. 8 to an address on Montgomery Street in reference to marijuana and some paraphernalia that were located in an alleyway. The items were collected and will be destroyed.
¯ A traffic stop was initiated Dec. 9 in the 300 block of Pike Street on a Chevy truck with no visible license plate. Jessica Dawn Drake was identified as the passenger who had an active warrant through Marietta Police Department for contempt of court and a warrant through Washington County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear. Drake was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail.
¯ A patrolman responded to Walmart on Dec. 9 for a man and woman shoplifter. Upon arrival and after investigation, the patrolman learned that the man who was identified brandished a knife while loss prevention was attempting to stop him and the woman for shoplifting. The two fled from Walmart prior to the patrolman’s arrival. A warrant was requested for aggravated robbery and complicity to aggravated robbery.
¯ An officer met Friday with a victim on station in reference to a sex crime that occurred in November. The victim advised she was sexually assaulted by a house guest Thanksgiving night. Brenton J. Carpenter, 20, was arrested for rape.
¯ A patrolman responded Friday to 500 Front St., Smitty’s Pizza, in reference to a forged check. Through an investigation, it was revealed that a woman who has been identified had used a stolen blank check and used it to pay for a pizza. A warrant has been requested for the suspect for receiving stolen property, a felony.
¯ While on patrol Saturday, an officer spotted a red Ford truck parked at the GoMart on Pike Street. Standing outside of the vehicle was a man known to the patrolman. The man entered the driver’s seat of the vehicle and moved it from the gas pumps and parked it in a parking spot. Knowing that the man does not possess a valid operator’s license, officers made contact with the man. While speaking with him, numerous items of drug paraphernalia were observed in plain view inside the vehicle, including digital scales and needles. Several empty plastic baggies (approximately 50 to 60) were located along with around 3.75 grams of suspected methamphetamine. All the items were seized and the suspected meth will be sent to BCI for chemical analysis. Charges for trafficking in drugs are pending those results.
¯ An officer responded to Bridgeport Equipment on Saturday in reference to a shoplifter who stole $45 in merchandise. The suspect has been identified and charges of theft are being filed.
¯ On Monday, a patrolman investigated the report of a suspect from the theft of a motor vehicle in West Virginia being in Walmart. During the investigation, the suspect fled on foot to a white Ford Focus, West Virginia plates, with a second suspect in it waiting for the first suspect. They fled the area and were unable to be re-located.
¯ A lieutenant began an investigation Monday into a financial scam. This case remains under investigation.

¯ Andrew Joe Lucas, 46, of 512 Fifth St., Lowell, was arrested for two counts trafficking in drugs, both felonies.
¯ Thomas Dean Joy, 31, of 1195 East Branch Road, Lowell, was arrested for theft, a misdemeanor, two counts trafficking in drugs, and illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility, all felonies.
¯ Tony Ray Campbell, 43, of 2201 Beach Grove Road, Cottageville, W.Va., was arrested for domestic violence, a misdemeanor, and felonious assault, a felony.
¯ Corrie Douglas Hague, 29, of Bull Run Road, Waverly, W.Va., was arrested for driving under suspension, a misdemeanor.
