¯ A two car crash occurred Jan. 28 at the intersection of Ohio 7 and Interstate 77 in Marietta Township. Christopher Michael Sargent, 40, of 401 E. Oak St., Davisville, W.Va., was driving eastbound on Ohio 7 and got onto the ramp to merge onto Interstate 77 southbound. Edward L. Owens, 45, of 2234 11th St. SW, Akron, was traveling southbound on Ohio 7 and was entering the ramp to merge onto Interstate 77 southbound.
Owens failed to yield at a yield sign and struck the 2019 Ram 1500 driven by Sargent. Owens then fled the scene of the crash and his 2013 Ford Focus was later stopped by the West Virginia State Police. He was cited for not yielding at the yield sign.
¯ A two car collision was reported Jan. 28 at the intersection of U.S. 50 and County Road 26 in Belpre Township. Clarence Brent Anderson, 39, of Route 4 Box 194, Clarksburg, W.Va., was traveling eastbound in a 2006 Kia Optima on U.S. 50. Patricia A. Taylor, 52, of 1051 Welch Road, Cutler, was traveling southbound on County Road 26 in a 2005 Toyota Camry. Taylor failed to yield from a stop sign and was struck by Anderson. She traveled off the right side of County Road 26 into a ditch. Anderson’s vehicle went off the right side of U.S. 50 and came to a stop. Anderson was cited for not yielding at a stop sign.
¯ Emily Ann Tuttle, 24, of 117 Cloverdale Estates Lot 9-10, St. Marys, W.Va., was in a single car accident on Jan. 28 at the intersection of County Road 25 and Township Road 530 in Newport Township. She was driving southbound on County Road 25 and failed to negotiate a curve. She went off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch before overturning. She was cited for operating without being in reasonable control of the vehicle.
¯ A two car crash was reported Jan. 29 on County Road 17 near milepost 7 in Lawrence Township. A 2006 Chevy Trailblazer, driven by Melvin Murphy, 50, of 7465 Stanleyville Road, Whipple, was southbound on County Road 17.
Colin M. Starkey, 26, of 8213 Stanleyville Road, Whipple, was in a 2002 Jeep Cherokee traveling northbound on County Road 17. Murphy went left of center on the roadway, striking Starkey’s vehicle. He then traveled off the right side of the roadway, striking a tree. Starkey crossed the centerline and off the left side of the roadway. Murphy was cited for not driving on the right side of the roadway.
¯ Ashley Nicole Davis, 39, of 5215 State Route 260, New Matamoras, was driving southbound on Township Road 22 near Ohio 7 in Grandview Township on Jan. 31 when her 2012 Ford Explorer went off the right side of the roadway before overturning. She was cited for operating without being in reasonable control of the vehicle.
¯ Timothy C. Nay, 51, of 9105 State Route 550, Vincent, was driving northbound on Ohio 339 near milepost 5 in Dunham Township on Feb. 1 when he drove across the centerline and off the left side of the roadway. His 2003 Volkswagen Jetta struck a mailbox, a stop sign and a second mailbox before overturning. He was cited for operating without being in reasonable control of the vehicle.
¯ Jill E. Keller, 44, of 629 Briggs Hill Road, Belpre, was going eastbound on County Road 51 in Dunham Township on Feb. 1 when her 2005 Dodge Ram slid off the left side of the roadway before striking a guardrail. She was cited for operating without being in reasonable control of the vehicle.
¯ Jonah D. Schneider, 25, of 13839 State Route 26, Reno, was plowing roads Feb. 2 in a Washington County owned truck westbound on County Road 111 near milepost 5, Decatur Township, when his 2003 International 7100 slid off the left side of the roadway before overturning against a tree.
¯ Cynthia L. Sowards, 39, of 20 Suzanne St., Little Hocking, was going northbound on Township Road 1301, Belpre Township, Feb. 2 when her 2018 Chevy Equinox slid across Township Road 15 and struck a pole.
¯ Alex J. Lang, 31, of 12880 Waterford Road, Waterford, was traveling westbound on County Road 109 when he failed to negotiate a curve in his 2005 Cadillac Escalade. He drove off the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. He was cited for operating without being in reasonable control of the vehicle.
¯ David A. Schwab, 48, of 118 S. Kennebec Ave., McConnelsville, was stationary at the BP gas station on Main Street, Malta on Feb. 4. He drove his 2004 Chevy Silverado across Fifth Street and struck a restaurant north of Fifth Street. No citations were issued.
¯ Kelly David Robinson, 57, of 2573 Catherine Ave., Lakemore, was on Interstate 77 on Feb. 5 near milepost 5 in Fearing Township when he drove off the left side of the roadway, striking a ditch in the median and losing his loaded trailer. His 1990 Ford F-250 continued off the right side of the roadway, striking the guardrail.
While at the scene, troopers detected an odor of alcoholic beverages, Robinson’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot and his speech was slurred. He admitted to drinking alcohol in Akron. He took a breathalyzer test and produced a 0.098 result. As this was his sixth OVI in 20 years and his fourth in 10 years, a second breathalyzer test was required. The second test produced a 0.125 result. During a search, troopers found marijuana in his jacket pocket. He was cited for operating without being in reasonable control of the vehicle.
¯ Jonathan L. Polly, 34, of 215 Cisler Ridge Road, New Matamoras, was involved in a crash Saturday in a 2014 Ram 1500. He was traveling northbound on County Road 33 near milepost 1 in Grandview Township when he went off the left side of the roadway. He struck a guardrail, traveling back across the roadway before striking an uphill embankment. He was cited for operating without being in reasonable control of the vehicle.
¯ A two car collision occurred Saturday at the intersection of Ohio 7 and County Road 344 in Marietta Township. Both cars were northbound on Ohio 7 when Stephen R.R.I. Baker, 34, of 1201 County House Lane Apt. 1, Marietta, slowed for traffic at the traffic signal. Brenda A. Miller, 53, of 502 Gallaher St., St. Marys, W.Va., failed to maintain an assured clear distance ahead and struck the rear of Baker’s 2009 Chevy Silverado with her 2018 Toyota Corolla. Miller was cited for not having an assured clear distance.
¯ John D. Gazzale, 22, of 911 Windy Ridge Road, Vincent, was going eastbound Sunday on County Road 3 near County Road 30 in Dunham Township when his 2011 Ford Fusion slid off the right side of the roadway while negotiating a left curve and struck the guardrail. He was cited for operating without being in reasonable control of the vehicle.
¯ Kaylin Jo Strahler, 17, of 2375 Sandhill Road, Marietta, was westbound Sunday on County Road 20 in Marietta Township when she lost control of her 2008 Mercury Milan. She slid off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned. She was cited for operating without being in reasonable control of the vehicle.
¯ Caleb S. Westbrook, 38, of 2220 Federal Road, Little Hocking, was westbound on U.S. 50 near milepost 4 in Belpre Township on Sunday when he slid his 2001 Ford Explorer off the right side of the roadway. He struck an embankment before overturning. He was cited for operating without being in reasonable control of the vehicle. He suffered minor injuries and was taken by EMS to the Marietta Memorial Hospital Belpre campus.
¯ A two car crash occurred Sunday at the intersection of County Road 4 and Township Road 271 in Muskingum Township. Jessica L.M. Stoke, 35, of 1075 Huck Road, Lowell, was going southeast on County Road 4 and tried to negotiate a right curve in her 2013 GMC Acadia. Kamen R. Davis, 33, of 3625 Packard St., Parkersburg, was northbound on County Road 4 in a 2011 Dodge Caliber. Stoke slid through the curve in the snowy conditions and struck Davis’ car. She was cited for not yielding half of the main portion of the roadway.
¯ A deputy began an investigation Feb. 5 into Joshua Campbell sending nudity-oriented material to a subject under the age of 18. The investigation was conducted and information in reference to sexual conduct was revealed with a child under the age of 18. Due to the information obtained in the investigation, Joshua Lee Campbell, 19, of 102 Summit Road, Marietta, was placed under arrest for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony.
¯ A sergeant was dispatched Monday to 15619 State Route 550, Fleming, to a report by Dylan King stating his mother, Christine King, had stolen his gaming system. A second call was received by Christine, reporting Dylan had thrown a chair across the room. Christine advised their argument started over her telling Dylan he could not take a shower in her bathroom, due to issues with the tub, however he went to shower in it anyway. Christine advised while he was in the bathroom, he ended up breaking the toilet tank.
Dylan informed his mother he fell and hit his head and this is how it broke. At no time during the encounter with Dylan did deputies observe any red marks, cuts, scrapes or injured areas on his face, head, arms, or hands. Dylan also threw a solid wood barstool across the room. Christine picked up the stool and saw the gaming system and placed it on the counter. Christine advised Dylan then stated that he was going to call the Sheriff’s Office because she stole his gaming system. The chair was busted/splintered on the back side of the backrest. Dylan denied throwing the chair, denied breaking the toilet, or making threatening remarks to his mother. A summons is being requested for Dylan Michael King, 20, through Marietta Municipal Court for disorderly conduct.
¯ A deputy began an investigation Tuesday in reference to identity fraud. This case remains under investigation.
¯ On Wednesday, a deputy completed a private property accident report at 27335 State Route 7, Marietta, where a vehicle struck a home and left the scene.
