¯ A two-vehicle collision occurred Sept. 23 on Ohio 618 in Belpre Township. Elizabeth Anne Wiseman, 29, of 3844 School House Road, Little Hocking, and Alice Jean Wheeler, 68, of 5368 Null Road, Coolville, were westbound on Ohio 618. Wiseman failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead in her 2006 Toyota Camry, striking Wheeler’s 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. Wiseman was cited for not maintaining an assured clear distance ahead.
¯ Dylan E. Shaffer, 20, of 15159 State Route 676, Waterford, was eastbound Sunday on Ohio 339 in Watertown Township. He drove his 2001 Volkswagen Jetta off the right side of the roadway, striking a tree. He then fled the scene. Shaffer was cited for operating a vehicle without being in reasonable control of it. Alcohol was a suspected factor in the crash.
¯ Paul G. Barth, 85, of 103 Devols Dam Road, Marietta, was westbound, and Terry A. Dewitt, 61, of 79 Wildwood Estates Drive, Accident, Md., was eastbound Sunday on Township Road 457 in Muskingum Township. Barth’s 2006 Ford Explorer and Dewitt’s 2006 Ford F-350 made contact in the middle of the roadway. No citations were issued.
¯ The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating numerous breaking and enterings in the Tick Ridge, Vincent, Barlow area. The entries are mainly into barns and garages, and tools are being stolen.

¯ A deputy began an investigation Tuesday in Waterford Township regarding damaging of property. This case remains under investigation.
¯ A deputy began an investigation Wednesday into abandoned animals. This case remains under investigation.
¯ A sergeant responded Thursday to Ohio 676, Warren Township, to a report of Christina Renee Garland, trespassing on property, against a court order. After conducting the investigation, Garland, 55, was placed under arrest and charged with criminal trespassing.
The following individuals were recently processed into the Washington County Jail:
¯ Shawn Eugene Covey, 44, of Marietta, was arrested for obstructing official business, resisting arrest and aggravated menacing, all misdemeanors.
¯ James Nemo Lee Croston, 44, of Chesterhill, was arrested for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.
