Helena L. Anthony

Helena L. Anthony, 93, beloved wife, mother, grandma (Mama), great grandma died at her residence on March 20, 2020. She was born in Wood County, WV on November 16, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Mathew Francis and Ruby Tennis Tate Weser. During the war, her first job was as Rosie the Riveter, later she worked at the Parkersburg Silk Mill, Anthony’s Greenhouse and Crafter’s Paradise. She was a member of the Porterfield Baptist Church. She had been a 4H Leader, Sunday School Teacher. She loved flowers, Buckeyes, gardening, fishing, sewing, square dancing and watching her grandchildren play sports.

Survivors include her children, Mary Ann Roddy (Tom), Paul Jr. Anthony (Kathleen), Ronald Anthony (Marcia) all of Belpre and Debbie Elder (Mark) of Vincent, Ohio. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Thomas Dwayne Roddy of Belpre, Sally Roddy Hornbeck (Kevin) of Vincent, Paul Wayne Anthony (Rhonda) of Sandyville, Connie Martin (Rick) of Cutler, Michael Anthony (Ellen) of Belpre, Greg Anthony (Micha) of Marietta, Stephen Elder (Rhonda) of Vincent, Stephanie Mull (Marlin) of Little Hocking, her great grandchildren, Haley, Cole, Corey Roddy, Christopher, Kelsey, and Katie Lerch, Jake Anthony, Cody, and Ashley Martin, Grant, and Kyle Anthony, Trent and Colin Anthony, Randy and Makayla Elder. Also surviving is her sister, Rome Goff of Parkersburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul K. Anthony Sr., her silblings, Freda Spear, Wilda Haynes, Juanita Miihlbach, and Tennis Meyer.

The family would like to thank Marietta Amedysis for the loving care of our mother.

Because of the current health concerns, Helena’s Services will be private. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, WV.

Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre is assisting the family with arrangements.
