Walter Lee Voshel

Walter Lee Voshel, 84, of Marietta passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020, at home surrounded by family. He was born September 21, 1935 to the late Leora Rollins and James William Voshel Sr.

He was a 1953 graduate of Marietta High School. He was the owner and operator of Bill’s Auto Salvage for 40 years. Walter had served as President of Lowell Village Council, and served as Mayor of Lowell for 6 years. He had worked at Fenton Art Glass for 20 years before purchasing Bill’s Auto Salvage in 1980. He was an avid collector of Fenton Glassware, and was a Past-President of Flint Glass Workers Union, Local 508. Walter loved antiquing on weekends and traveling throughout the United States and meeting new people.

Walter is survived by a son, Dan Voshel (Connie), daughter, Debbie Augenstein (Roger) both of Lowell, daughter-in-law, June Voshel of Marietta, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brother, William Voshel of Marietta and a special friend, Ann Stull and her family.

He is preceded in death by his first and second wives, Emma Jeanne Mendenhall and Kathryn Agnes Sparks Farmer, son, Jeffrey A. Voshel, brother Fred Voshel, sister-in-law, Louise Voshel and granddaughter, Hope Lynn Voshel.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with the Pastor Willie Hood officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday from 6-8 and Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8.
