Larry Eugene Allen Sr., 72, of New Matamoras, OH passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at his son’s residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 5, 1948 in Beavertown, OH to the late Kenneth Eugene and Ruby Mae (Heddleston) Allen.

Larry graduated from Matamoras High School and was a member of the US Navy Reserve from 1970-1974. He retired from Ormet Corporation Lower Plant formerly Conalco, 31 years of orneriness. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 5760 and Parr Hill Community Church.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting ginseng, morels, and most anything outdoors. His most valued time was spent with his children. He loved his family picnics! Larry passed away after a short battle with lung cancer.

He was divorced from Cindy Lea Haney of Woodsfield, OH, whom he married on March 23, 1974 and they were married for 30 years.

He is survived by his children, Betty Jo (Shawn Murphy) Ulrich, Blacklick, OH, William (Kendra) Allen, Woodsfield, OH, Marlana (Christopher) Hart, Woodsfield, OH, Larry (Kaylene Myers) Allen Jr, Gibsonburg, OH; grandchildren, Shannan, Zach, Brianna, Gretchen, Logan, MacKenzie, Cole, McKaya, Kayley, Emily, Cameron, Bryson, Layla; great grandchildren, Bentley, Kyan, Liam, Aleah, Lukis, Adalyn, Lane, Lily; siblings, Betty (Mike) Resseger, New Martinsville, WV, Judy Binegar, Newport, OH, Kenneth (Leslie) Allen, Newport, OH, Karen Shreves, Beavertown, OH; a special friend, Linda Danver, Beavertown, OH and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and his spouse, Jim and Lynn Allen and a brother-in-law, Eugene Binegar.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2020 in Matamoras Cemetery with Pastor David “Packy” Beaver officiating. Friends are welcome to attend.
