James R. Shriver

James R. Shriver, 82, of Grafton, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, November 15, 2020. He was born July 21, 1938 in Wooster and was a resident of Grafton for 34 years. Jim attended Marietta High School and as a teenager joined the military. He was a veteran of both the US Air Force and the US Army. Jim was a sheet metal worker and was employed as a supervisor at Northern Ohio Roofing and Sheet Metal in Elyria. He retired in 1999. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local # 65 , the Elyria Moose Lodge #778 and a former member of the American Legion. Jim enjoyed Steelers Football, antique classic cars, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. James R. Shriver is survived by: three daughters, Erin Brown (Guy) of Monroe, GA, Tricia McCarrick (Kevin) and Tiffany Tackett (Matt), both of Grafton; two sons, Eric Shriver (Bev) of Wakeman and Mark Shriver of Grafton; 15 grandchildren, Stephanie, Shawn, Samantha, Sarah, Erin Kay, Katherine, Eric II, Sydney, Seth, Sophie, Kenzie, Emily, Sadie, Loral and Mason; and by 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Sharon (nee Hamilton) in 2017; his parents, Wayne and Maureen (nee Smith) Shriver; his sister, Nadine Cline; and by three brothers, Adrian “Abe”, Walt and Thomas Shriver. The family will receive friends on Wednesday November 18, 2020 from 10am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 noon at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Pastor Brian Gardiner will officiate the service. Burial will be on Wednesday at 2:30pm at Wooster Cemetery in Wooster, where military honors will be observed. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Veteran’s Administration.
