Xan Michael Smith
Xan Michael Smith, 49, of Lockland, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020 at his home from Covid-19. He was born on January 8, 1971 in Marietta, Ohio to John and Jane Anne Wenzel Smith.
Xan was a 1989 graduate of Marietta Senior High School and a 1993 graduate of Marietta College, where he Majored in Art / Graphic Design. At the time of his passing. he was a police dispatcher for the City of Monroe, OH. He was also very involved over the years with martial arts training as black belt rank and Sifu (instructor) status in Wing Chun at Meng’s Martial Arts.
He is survived by his parents John and Jane Anne Wenzel Smith, of Marietta, Ohio, Brother Geoffrey Smith of Lockland, OH, Sister Stefanie Smith (Ty), Nephews Celan O’Dell (Paige) of Parkersburg, WV, Demetrie, and Elias Smith, Nieces Arianna and Olivia Smith all in Louisville, KY, Aunt Shelley West (Geoff), Uncles: Roy “Buzz” Wenzel (Ginny), Marty Wenzel (Marilyn), Tom Wenzel (Myrna), Kyle Wenzel all in Marietta, OH, Great Aunts: Nancy Wenzel of Crystal Lake, IL, Sophrona Morris of Sylvania, OH, Xan’s best friend for 44 years, Joe Caltrider of Marietta (who is like another son to Xan’s parents) as well as many cousins and other friends.
Our great appreciation and gratitude goes to our son Geoffrey for being there for Xan and doing everything he could for him as well as OCMS and the Monroe PD.
