Myron “Mike” Blaine Doan

Myron “Mike” Blaine Doan, 84, of New Matamoras, OH passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 3, 1936 in New Matamoras, OH to the late Reece and Beryl Rinard Doan.

Mike was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, self-employed at Quaker State, a Past Master of Matamoras Lodge #374 F. & A.M. Cambridge Consistory, AASR Valley of Cambridge and a Methodist by faith.

He is survived by his beloved partner of 30 years, Doris Ann Thompson (Elmcroft Memory Care, Marietta, OH); one daughter, Connie (Steve) Halpern of Camarillo, CA; one son-in-law, Dan Harasty of Camarillo, CA; five grandchildren, Matthew and Daniella Harasty; Zachary, Hannah and Rachel Halpern; and numerous friends and extended family. Mike is also survived by his beloved niece, Sandy Amos, and was very grateful for her assistance and devoted companionship, especially over this past year.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife and the mother of his children, Mary Catherine (Witten) Doan; his daughter, Deborah Ann Harasty; two brothers, Edgar Doan and Daniel Doan; and two sisters, Vera Amos and June Talbott.

Mike’s passions included spending time with family, “snowbirding” in Florida with Doris Ann, and using his hands and mechanical skills to serve and help others. He will be fondly remembered by his family for sharing his wit, wisdom and vast knowledge of the natural world.
