Jane Edwards (Hurlbut) Kelso

Kelso

Jane Edwards (Hurlbut) Kelso, 86, entered eternal life on August 6, 2022.

Born Susan Jane Edwards on December 29, 1935, in Greensburg, PA, to Robert Stone Edwards and Eleanor Pick Edwards, Jane graduated from Marietta High School (OH) and earned a degree in fashion merchandising from Harcum College (Philadelphia, PA).

Jane greeted all she met with her beautiful smile and lived a long, eventful life with grace and dignity. Her positive attitude and ability to continue to find joy throughout every challenge she faced provided inspiration to all. Jane traveled the world extensively, visited all 50 states, and lived in 20 homes across the US. She loved to entertain and open her homes to family, friends, and friends of friends.

She had a quick wit, a fondness for Chardonnay, and an affinity for National Parks and photography. Jane was also an unapologetic stickler for details, etiquette, and manners.

She was a lover of all sports, none more so than Northwestern Wildcats football. Jane’s loving heart and service to others will be sorely missed. She volunteered countless hours at hospitals wherever she resided, and was dedicated to the P.E.O. Sisterhood as well as her church and Stephen Ministries. Jane was happiest when surrounded by family, believed strongly she lived a blessed life, and had unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior.

Jane was preceded in death by husbands John Stevens Hurlbut Jr. (1967) and Kenneth Lynn Kelso Jr. (2014), and her brother Robert S. Edwards, Jr. and is survived by her sons, John Stevens Hurlbut III (Constance) of Half Moon Bay (CA), Craig Edwards Hurlbut of Atlanta (GA), and Bradford Dreher Hurlbut of North Stamford (CT). She is also survived by grandchildren John Stevens Hurlbut IV and Margaret Huston Hurlbut, her companion William Cushing, and numerous stepchildren and step grandchildren.

Honoring Jane’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to any Breast or Lung Cancer research organization.
