Ila Lee Leatherman, 92, died December 21, with her family by her side in La Quinta, CA. Her nurturing spirit made her a friend to many and someone who was loved by all. Ila’s was a life well lived.

A celebration of life will be held at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church in Mission Viejo, California on February 15 at 11:00am.

A graveside will be held at Willow Island Cemetery in West Virginia on April 26 at 11:00am.

Ila was born March 11, 1932 in St Marys, West Virginia to Bill Elliott and Pearl Unruh Elliott. She was a 1950 graduate from St Mary’s High School. After graduation, Ila attended Ohio University where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority, earned her teaching degree, and met her future husband. In 1957, Conrath G. Leatherman and Ila were married in her hometown of St Marys. After college graduation Ila traveled to Gilbert, Arizona where she began her teaching career. The couple soon moved to California where she taught for many years before moving to Mission Viejo and dedicating her time to raising her two children. In 1996, the couple returned to West Virginia to enjoy retirement. They joined the Wayside Methodist Church family in Vienna, made many friends, and enjoyed being close to their WV family members. In 2016 they once again moved to CA to be close to friends, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Ila is the beloved wife of Conrath G.; mother to Kimberly, David, and son in law Rod; grandmother to Brandon, Bradley, Ryan, Joshua, and Lauren; and great Grandmother to Harper, Reese, and Luca. An online guest register is available at www.ingramfh.com.
