Thank you for another Sternwheel Festival

With the final booms still echoing in ears, the Sternwheel Festival has drawn to a close, putting to bed another year of fun celebrating the iconic boats and the Ohio River.

With this being the 45th year of the festival, it’s important to remember that without the work of the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival committee’s more than 100 volunteers, board of trustees, committee chair and the 40 sub-committees that make up all aspects of the festival, the fun the Mid-Ohio Valley had would never have come to fruition. It takes a lot of work to pull off such a festival, and these folks deserve a round of applause for making everything happen. Further, without corporate and private sponsors within the community, they wouldn’t have the funds to pull off everything. These organizations deserve a hearty thanks as well.

Perhaps just as important, if it hadn’t been for the captains bringing their sternwheel boats here for the weekend, we wouldn’t have the gorgeous boats to see along the riverfront. Even in a year still riddled with uncertainty, the chose to make the trip. Thank you for coming to our little corner of the valley.

Thank you, everyone, for giving us all something to look forward to and enjoy during a dark time. We are eager to see what is in store for next year’s festival.
