Kitchen tour support also helped the Betsey

Marietta’s Historic Kitchen Tour, which took place on Sunday afternoon, provided the community with a pleasant autumn activity for the 100-plus people who attended. Sponsored by The Betsey Mills Club, the event raised funds for the Betsey, while giving guests an opportunity to see some beautiful and functional kitchens as four local families opened their homes, each with its own particular appeal.

Guests walked from home to home on Marietta’s scenic streets to taste a sampling of a different soup and bread at each location. I would like to thank those people who were generous enough to share their kitchens, and homes, for the afternoon: Gerald and Marty Moore, Wes and Theresa Nida, Katie McGlynn, and Ann and Sylvain Riendeau. An added feature of this year’s tour was a continuous professional demonstration of the preparation of several hors d’oeuvres by Gordon’s Food Service at the Moore home.

I would also like to thank these sponsors: Gene A. Haynes, State Farm Insurance; Triad Hunter, LLC; Jeremy D. Cornwell Photography; Stonewall Group; Third Street Deli; Aletha’s Florist; Two Peas in a Pod; Passiflora; H. Rietz & Company; Huck’s Farm Market; House of Wines; Giant Eagle; and Georgene Johnson.

Thanks go to my fellow committee members: David Doerr, Virginia Mayle, and Tara Steed. All of the volunteers, family and friends, Betsey members or not, are to be acknowledged as well for helping to make the tour, our third, a success.

Congratulations to drawing winner Pam Oliver who will enjoy dinner for six in the Betsey Mills dining room.

Thank you, Marietta, for coming out to support the Betsey. Check out other Betsey events at www.betseymills.org or find us on Facebook.
