Reader thinks hospital could help Woman’s Home

After learning the Woman’s Home will be closing in 2018, I thought to myself, why doesn’t Marietta Memorial Hospital step in to save it?

Over the years, I have known families whose mothers were residents of the Home. Every one of those families was very happy and pleased with the high level of personal care, meals, activities, accommodations, and the caring family atmosphere provided by the board and employees/caregivers. Not to mention what a comfort it was/is to those families because their mothers were also extremely happy being a resident at the Home.

The Woman’s Home provides an option for families that cannot afford the traditional care facilities. It saddens me to think this choice will be gone.

Marietta Memorial Hospital prides itself on giving back to our community. I would think MMH could set up a foundation or possibly donate yearly to the Home to ensure continued operation.

I am urging the hospital board to approach and work together with the Woman’s Home board to come up with an affordable solution and save an important part of Marietta’s history and charm.
