Loss of Clean Ohio Fund will be another county’s gain

In 2008 the citizens of Washington County voted overwhelmingly to support the Clean Ohio Fund. This fund is designed to preserve farmland, promote hunting and trapping, habitat restoration, tourism and recreational opportunities, and redevelopment of brownfield sites. The Clean Ohio initiative passed in every single county in Ohio.

Unfortunately our county commissioners have said “no” to using Clean Ohio money locally to fund a Friends of the Lower Muskingum land purchase in the Cutler area. Make no mistake. Other counties will be eager to use this money for worthwhile projects in their communities. Our loss is their gain.
