What are the facts?

In their Sept. 17 editorial The Marietta Times states “Beyond any reasonable doubt, they (2017 tax cuts) did more to help lift the nation out of recession than did all the stimulus spending employed during former President Barack Obama’s administration.”

Except the Great Recession ended in 2009, many years before Donald Trump became president. Crediting Trump with lifting the nation out of the Great Recession is a departure from reality, smacks of partisan doublespeak, and casts doubt on The Times’ credibility.

In the future when The Marietta Times editorializes about a topic it must be asked if they are playing loose with the “facts” they are using to formulate and support their opinion. I would urge The Times to always let real facts guide their journalistic efforts. It would be a shame not to be able to trust our local paper.
