In an Oct. 18 letter to the editor, the letter writer at least had one thing right - protesters against the Nuns on the Bus are indeed not fringe Kooks. They are good, concerned, informed citizens. Andy Thompson, David White, and Leslie Haas behaved in a respectful manner at all times during the protest. Members of the Catholic church sang, recited, and prayed devoutly and respectfully. When the Nuns walked through the crowd of protesters, no one said or did anything at all to bring shame or dishonor to the group.
While the letter writer may think that the Nuns are traveling the country simply to promote love, hope, and charity she is missing a very important point. These Nuns do have a political agenda masked by the seemingly benign name of "Social Justice." One might suppose that social justice is a worthy goal, but the term is a sweet-sounding synonym for Marxism. When nuns or pastors or teachers or presidents choose to go on the stump for Marxist principles, I will be there to protest. And I am proud to have the likes of Andy Thompson, David White and Leslie Haas standing besides me.
