Grace Louise Schrader McMurray, 83, of Washington, passed away Dec. 11, 2012 at Camden Clark Medical Center-Memorial Campus.
She was born Aug. 10, 1929, in Decatur Township, Ohio, a daughter to the late Leslie Darrell and Ella Lenora Schrader. She was a homemaker, and was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church where she was part of the United Methodist Women's group, and served as a Sunday School teacher and on many committees. She was also very involved in the start of the Tri-C baseball leagues in Lubeck.
Grace graduated from Belpre High School in 1948, where she was named to the National Honor Society, and then worked as a secretary for Oakmare Oil Company in Ohio. After marrying the love of her life in 1949, she enjoyed loving unconditionally, watching her four children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in whatever they were involved. She was an avid Parkersburg South and WVU fan, loved sewing, gardening and serving our Lord through church, community and card ministries. Her wisdom, grace and her loving presence will be forever missed.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, S. Lionel "Mac" McMurray; children, Stephen Lionel McMurray (JoAnn) of Belleville, Deborah Lenora Krieg (Alan) of Boaz, Joseph Lee McMurray of Washington, Jane Louise Geis (Russell) of Cross Lanes, and Martha Lynn McMurray of Mineral Wells; sister, Hazel Kathleen Meek (James) of Flemming, Ohio; grandchildren, Charles Adam Clegg, Miranda Noelle Haught (Brian), Cristy McHenry (Rusty), Joshua Lewis McMurray, Dakota Lind McMurray, Jacob Tyler Pralley, Victoria Catherine Geis, Catherine Elizabeth Geis, and Jonathan Daniel Geis; step grandchildren, Alisha Miracle, and Jeremy Krieg; great-grandchildren, Tristan Tennant, Clark McHenry, Lily McHenry, and Jaxon Lionel Haught; step great-grandchildren, Lauren Marie Miracle, Sydney Grace Miracle, and Tylor Rayne Miracle; along with many cherished friends and extended family.
Service will beat 1 p.m. on Friday (Dec. 14, 2012) at Washington United Methodist Church with Pastor David Calvert officiating. Burial will follow in the Ravenswood Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
