Rita K. Miller, 89, of Beverly, Ohio, died Friday (Feb. 15, 2013) at Muskingum Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation in Beverly. She was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Marietta, the daughter of Joseph and Otillia Schwendeman Kern.
She graduated from St. Marys High School in Marietta. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Beverly and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 389 in Beverly. She loved flowers and gardening and also loved to play cards. She especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was married Feb. 19, 1942, to Earl R. "Pete" Miller who died Dec. 3, 2001. She is survived by four daughters: Monica Dietz of Beverly, Marsha McCutcheon and husband Ron of Waterford, Marlene Robitaille of Melbourne, Fla. and Mary Turnbach and husband Joe of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; four sons, Tom Miller and wife Sue of La Vergne, Tenn., Tony Miller and wife Sue of Jacksonville, Fla., Terry Miller and wife Patti of Fleming, Ohio and Ted Miller and Trina of Fleming, Ohio; 23 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Tim Miller; two sons in law, Noble Dietz and Thomas Robitaille; three brothers, Andrew, Ambrose and Paul Kern; and three sisters, Alma Blouir, Ann Bradfield and Louise McCullough.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Beverly with Monsignor Robert Kawa officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly. A rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
